Spice Road charges going rates that are consistent with other dance troupes within the city and across Canada.

2009 - 2010 Performance Rates

Single Performance

A single performance may be performed anywhere from street festival, office party or private function. It can include a variety of tempos, props/styles and music.

Soloist (15-20 minute set) ~~ $125
Duet (2 dancers, 15-25 minute set) ~~ $250
Troupe (minimum of 3, maximum of 7 dancers, 15-35 minute set,
includes a minimum of 2 troupe dances and the rest solos, duets, etc.) ~~ $350 and up
Each additional set w/costume change ~~ 75% of first set booked.
(Maximum 20 minutes, and within 30 minutes of previous set.)
Full troupe show, 60-90 minutes, $1500 and up

Bellygram

A bellygram is a short, surprise show for a special event such as a birthday or retirement. It generally consists of 1-2 dancers “popping in”, performing with a focus on the person being honoured, and "popping” back out. We can bring the stereo with prior notice. You provide an escort to the person of honour.

7 – 10 minute set (minimum 2 dancers, 2-3 songs) ~~ $85/dancer

Restaurant / Cabaret bookings

Restaurant performances have dancers circulating around the tables. We do not need a “stage” area. We are experienced in performing while keeping out of the way of serving staff, and it is appropriate that diners continue eating while we perform. We use only appropriate styles and props for the venue and audience. We involve patrons in a fun and playful, yet respectful, manner.

Tipping is appropriate, encouraged and welcome. We accept bills placed traditionally, or handed to dancers, and we share 15% with serving staff. (Please see: How to Tip a Dancer)

One time booking - see rates for single performances
Minimum 2 sets/night, Minimum 2 bookings a month ~~ 75% of the first set / per each additional set/ set

New Year’s Eve , Weddings and Gala Events

A special event of this type will see a variety of performances from solos to group, with a variety of styles and props.

2 – 3 sets w/ costume changes ~~ $900 and up
It is recommended that you book this type of event, well in advance. A 25% deposit will be required, 50% for NEw Year's
We prepare a commemorative CD for the happy couple as our gift.

Combination Show and Lesson

Perfect for showers, youth groups, staff wellness, blessing ways, retreats or bachelorettes – anywhere you want to get people up and moving! Combinations of a lesson, combined with a demonstration of dance can be made to accommodate your group's needs - focus on exercise, learning and/or just having fun! Lessons can be 20-90 minutes long and combined with any of our single performance sets. Demos are generally performed in the same costume as the lesson.

Add $50 for a 15-30 minute lesson; $75 for a 45-60 minute lesson; or $100 for up to 90 minutes.

Custom Choreography/Shows

Choreography on commission, with payment in advance.
We can prepare custom choreograph or themed shows upon request. Payment for preparition and rehearsal is required in advacnes and is non-refundable.
Each song/piece requires approximatley 2 hours of prepartion for each minute of music. a fee of $40 per hour of preparation per song (e.g. a 3 minute song = 6 hours of preparation = $240 fee) applies.
Additional rehearslas will be required, on average 3 hours per dance, $30 per hour.

Our rates are subject to change, and may be flexible depending on the unique needs
and demands of a given booking. Please inquire if you need more information.

Payment policies:

A 25% deposit is required at least 1 week in advance of your event, 50% for a New Year's Eve. This is non-refundable, it may be refunded or credited toward a future event if we must cancel due to illness, accident or poor weather conditions

We accept Payment by way of: Cash, Cheque, and/or PayPal. NSF charge of $35

Full payment will be required before we perform, upon arrival.

In the event that the troupe is made to wait more than 30 minutes to begin performing, there will be an additional charge of $50. There is an extra $5 charged for every 5 minutes waiting time past 30 minutes.

Receipts will be provided upon request.

Out of town bookings:

There is a transportation fee for travel outside of the city to cover time and fuel ($0.45 / km, return) PLUS an additional charge of $35 per hour of driving time over 2 hours total.

An overnight accommodations and meals fee will be included based on distance from the city and time event is booked; or, you may provide accommodations and meals (to be discussed prior to booking)

Bookings requiring airfare must have that cost included in the booking contract.

*** Spice Road expects that our hosts will do their best to help us make our shows sweet and spicy. We will discuss your event in detail, in advance. Spice Road reserves the right to refuse a show at our discretion. If we arrive and deem the venue or audience unfit or unsafe we will decline the show. In this case your deposit and (in the event of out of town bookings) transportation fees will be retained. ***
