Welcome to Spice Road,
Our Journey (The Mission)
- to present authentic North African, Middle & Near Eastern dance styles, from the traditional to the modern, solo and group
- to provide opportunities and support to developing dancers, from intermediate to advanced levels
- to showcase regular stage productions
- to organize and participate in local shows, formal and informal
- to raise awareness and visibility and the calibre of belly dance in Manitoba
Our Guides (Education & Inspiration)
- pursuing educational and training experiences
- attending local and out-of-town workshops, private lessons, independent learning projects
- seeking feedback from one another, local performers, visiting masters
- using examples set by dance greats and scholars
- adapting and creating choreography, and costuming that demonstrates authentic, recognized national & folkloric traditions, individual stylings of stars, and theatrical/conceptual themes
- investing in resources such as videos/DVDs, books, and more
